To support this we provide a curriculum for all children at Newlands that:
- Provides purposeful and learning experiences, which are tailored to the child’s needs and experiences, within inclusive and enabling environments which stimulate, excite and interest all children
- Provides collaborative and independent learning experiences promoting curiosity, creativity and critical thinking.
- Enables learners to pose questions and follow lines of enquiry, adapting in a way that deepens children’s understanding and supports reflective learners
Curriculum Impact
We aim for a Newlands child to be:
- A reflective, independent, articulate and confident lover of learning who is not afraid to make mistakes and use them as a learning opportunity
- Emotionally intelligent. Aware of their rights and responsibilities and those of others while being knowledgeable about how to be, and stay, healthy and able to sustain meaningful, positive relationships with their peers and adults
- A creative and critical thinker able to adapt to the ever-changing challenges of a modern global society
By the time children leave Newlands in Year 6 they should have had, as a minimum, the opportunity to:
- Read a diverse range culturally significant quality texts
- Visit multiple places of worship
- Visit a range of museums and other off site educational locations
- Take part in multiple school residential visits
- Learn a language
- Communicate with children from other cultures
- Perform in front of an audience
- Take part in school sports events and activities
